Educational Trips, Visits and Field Work

We offer a wide range of trips and visits throughout the year to support our students with their studies and to help them learn more about universities and careers. Some of these are also open to students from other subjects. Click on the headings below to read more about these and to view photographs.

Here are just a few of these:

Theatre Visits

Our Drama and English Departments offer several opportunities for theatre visits throughout the year. They make the most of local theatres but also take students further afield to find the performances most relevant to their studies. These may be during the school day or in the the evenings and are sometimes open to students on other courses too, for cultural or social enrichment.

Field Work

Students in Biology and Geography undertake outdoor fieldwork as part of their courses. These include visits to coastal areas for Geography and to Minsmere Nature Reserve for Biology. Students enjoy the opportunity to put into practise what they are learning in the classroom. It's also a great opportunity to be outdoors, regardless of the weather!

University Visits

Some departments arrange opportunities for students to experience their subject in a university setting or to use specialist equipment only available in a university laboratory or studio. Locally, we have good links with the University of Suffolk, but also take students further afield to experience a range of different university settings.

Aspiration Programme - Chigwell

We recently established a link with Chigwell School. You can find out more about this programme on the Chigwell Aspiration Programme page.

Overseas visits

We offer various overseas opportunities throughout the year. Recently, we have taken students to New York on a cultural visit, and to Iceland and Italy on trips run by the Geography department but open to all students. This year, we will be taking students to Peru, Thailand and Tanzania on incredible cultural visits with the Turing Scheme.
