Careers and Work Experience advice

Careers Education begins in Year 7 and is available to students throughout their time at Copleston. From early in their Copleston journey, students are encouraged to explore their strengths and interests and to consider the careers that might best incorporate these. Students complete activities in PSHE and in the BASE tutor time programme. Staff also find opportunities to make careers links in their subject lessons. As their Copleston journey progresses, students receive more focused careers support including our Pathways programme in Year 8, work experience in Year 10, post-16 advice and guidance in Year 11 and support with UCAS applications and careers throughout Sixth Form. We also have a dedicated Careers Hub where students can go for advice and support at any time during their time at Copleston. Our dedicated Careers Advisor is also available for informal chats or longer appointments and monitors and develops our programme of careers information advice and guidance (IAG) to ensure we are meeting the eight Gatsby Benchmarks.

You can find out more about the Gatsby benchmarks on the following website:

Please use the sub-menus to find out how we support parents and students with careers advice and guidance. You can also find out more about our work experience programme.

For all IAG enquiries, please contact Danielle Waites via the school office or e-mail: dwaites@copleston.suffolk.sch.uk.
